How does it work?
Double glazing consists of two main components; a uPVC frame and a sealed glass unit comprised of two panes of glass. In between the two glass panes is a spacer bar that creates a vacuum to keep the heat in and the cold out.
What are the benefits?
Did you know that single glazed windows account for possibly two thirds of all heat loss inside the home? Not only will this make heating your home more problematic, but it will also result in higher than average energy bills. Double glazed windows will enable you to heat your home more efficiently, and with the money it saves you on energy costs, it eventually pays for itself.
If you live on a busy Milton Keynes road, then double glazing can help dampen the constant drone of passing cars. You will also notice the build up of condensation will be vastly reduced compared to single glazing.
What will influence the cost?
If you have basic glass installed in your windows, and not triple glazing or self-cleaning glass, then the base price will only be altered by several factors; the size of the windows, the number of openers in each window and any additional trickle vents you might require. When you finalise the details, you will receive your quotation. Perceived wisdom dictates that you should obtain at least three quotes to compare before deciding which company to use.
